NIS Himlung Himal Expedition

Congratulations to the NIS Expedition Team!

The the team is expected back in Europe on Sunday, June 10, 2001. They have accomplished a great achievement. Olivier Soudieux successfully made the arduous climb. Nine out of ten expedition participants climbed to the Himlung Himal summit as planned.

During their journey, they discovered breathtaking scenery throughout the difficult ascent to the top. The weather conditions were severe and the course was tougher than anticipated, but nothing stopped them from reaching their goal!

Upon their descent from Himlung Himal, there were no means of external communication and team was cut off from the outside world. Little did they know what to expect when they reached Kathmandu at the time of the bloody massacre of the royal family. Following the massacre of the royal family, most communications were not getting through and the airport was closed.

The city of Kathmandu was under curfew from 8:00 a.m. to midnight. However, our NIS Internal Communications journalist Sophie Darrigues managed to get through on the telephone to Olivier and ascertained that the team was all in good health after their ordeal. We are eagerly waiting to hear back from them upon their return to Paris. More news of their expedition will follow shortly.

We are very happy and proud to congratulate them for their great efforts and success! Through, project and risk management, team building and much more. The NIS Expedition team shows us that it is possible to reach one's objective if we follow our dreams!
